Baja SAE INDIA is inter college design competition organized by Society Of Automotive Engineers(SAE) for engineering students.The goal of Baja SAE is to Design and built a Vehicle which can run on different terrain, and that can with stand difficulties of particular terrain.It is organized to bring out the talents from different part of INDIA to come on common platform. In this competition every team has to do their job on their own starting from designing, manufacturing and marketing.

During competition the teams are judged under three categories

    1. Static event

    2. Durability event

    3. Dynamic event

Objective of SAE

• Provide Indian students with a standard platform to showcase their talent and potential not only in terms of design and engineering, but also their capability for team-work, entrepreneurial skills and management.
• Inculcate adventure and international exposure to Indian students.
• Save participating expenses for Indian students.
• Boost Brand Image for SAEINDIA.
• Sponsor at-least the best team to participate abroad.

Objective for Students

• Any SAE Student Member Team studying in undergraduate engineering college of India, with age above 18 years and having permanent driving license can participate (Not more than one team per college).
• Each team’s goal will be to design and build a prototype of a rugged, single seat, off-road recreational vehicle intended for sale to the non-professional, weekend off-road enthusiast.

• The students are assigned the task of designing, building, testing, promoting and racing an off road vehicle, that will withstand the rigours of a rough terrain. The underlying purpose of the event is to provide SAE student members with challenges that reflect the steps involved in the entire process from design and engineering to production and marketing.

• The vehicle must be safe, easily transported, easily maintained and fun to drive. It should be able to negotiate rough terrain in all types of weather without damage.

Material Sponsors

Lombardini – Kohler will be sponsoring engines to all the teams for 2010 events.In past also they have sponsored engines to previous teams.

Registration and process fee 

  Virtual BAJA participants would be required to pay Rs. 25,000/- and physical BAJA participants would be required to pay Rs. 50,000/- altogether.This fee is collected according to flowchart provided on site.

Event in 2010

     The process of BAJA SAE ASIA 2010 scheduled on 29, 30 and 31st January 2010 at Pithampur.
